Office 2007 is compatible Windows XP SP2 or later, Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 10. Office 2007 is incompatible with Windows 2000 and earlier versions of Windows. The new formats are intended to facilitate the sharing of information between programs, improve security, reduce the size of documents, and enable new recovery scenarios. Office 2007 also introduced Office Open XML file formats as the default file formats in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
